Welcome to the newest People First chapter- the CTA Twilight Avengers!
The Canyons Transition Academy in Salt Lake City have started a chapter for their young adult students. We had a fantastic first meeting and the self-advocates created their name and voted in their officers. They will be taking a break over summer and will be back September 13th. We hope to see some of them over the summer at the South Valley meetings and at events across the valley!

SABE is Developing Webinars and Resource Center
The following is an information bulletin from Our Community United announcing that Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (S.A.B.E.) are developing web based seminars and a website resource center. These are being created based on information from a survey that they have conducted:
Hello Advocates, Allies and Advisors:
Self Advocates Becoming Empowered received the “Our Community United” grant from AIDD to strengthen self advocacy group across the country. We are very excited to have the opportunity to share this survey based on the grant categories AIDD developed from the National Summits they did.
SABE will use the surveys to develop 10 Webinars throughout the year. Also, part of the grant will be to create a Resource Center on the SABEUSA.org website.
The Resource Center will have items collected from state organizations that feel they have developed a user friendly tool or method to assist their organization to become stronger. Or a “how to” carry out the difficult tasks of being a non-profit organization or to be more formal in how they do business. All items including the survey will be sent to me and I will send it to our National Team of Self Advocacy Reviewers to be scored by them and presented to an Administrative Team from SABE to be considered for the Resource Center.
If your state contributes resources and a member of your group would like to be considered for a Webinar presenter please have them include their contact information and the name of the item(s) they have expertise in training/teaching to their group and others.
Please share the attached survey with your self advocacy group members and those who support them. It is very important to put which group you are representing and the state you are from. We welcome other items that may not be on the list.
Thank you for supporting SABE:
Teresa Moore
Our Community United, Coordinator

Weber Wildcats Selling Pizza!
Weber Wildcats are raising money by selling Tony’s Pizza. These are great pizzas that you get fresh and ready to cook or freeze. You can support us by buying pizzas. You have a choice of mushroom, ham, green peppers, green olives, pepperoni or the works. We have order tickets here at the People First office. The money to pay Tony’s for the pizza we order is due on Tuesday May 14, 2013. So get the word out and ask people if they would like to buy or stock up on pizzas and support People First at the same time. It’s a yummy way to help.
