Who We Are

People First of Utah is part of the self-advocacy movement, an international civil rights movement for people with disabilities. People First of Utah is a self advocacy organization that assists people with developmental disabilities learn how to advocate for themselves, increase their independence and become apart of their community.

People First of Utah members believe that

WE ARE PEOPLE FIRST AND WE CAN SPEAK FOR OURSELVES!

Our members meet in local groups around the state to learn self-advocacy skills and have fun at the same time.

Announcement! Public Comment Request for Aug. 26th Advisory Council!

August 26th Advisory Council Public Comment Flyer-001 Dear all, ​Please spread the word that the August 26th Disability Advisory Council meeting will include an hour of public comment. People, families, providers, SCE-all are welcome to address the Council or the Division. We are encouraging discussions on concerns, success, and areas to investigate. The meeting will begin at 2:00PM at the Multi State Agency Office Building. The public comment period is scheduled for 3:00. I anticipate there will be a few people speaking and am asking people reserve a time with me (rcarrier@utah.gov). Please ​send the attached flyer to energize our stakeholders and public. July Calendar for Roads to Independence in Ogden

Below is a list of events they have planned for the remainder of July:

7-11 Planting Tree Day at Jefferson Park behind the Center at 10 am. after the tree planting and park clean-up there will be a BBQ!! (This is to replace the trees that were stolen from the park)

7-16 Anderson Cove Day with the SLC, Logan, and Provo Centers Camp-out. Roads will be attending their festivities for the day to join in the fun! Bring a lunch and drinks! We leave the center at 9am. If you want to stay the full camp-out with them the 15th-17th contact Michael at 801-466-5565 and to go up for the day with the Roads to Independence, contact Karen 801-317-2857

7-17 Bowling at WSU from 6:30-8:30 FREE w/Pizza

7-18 Cycling and Canoeing with Common Ground at Fort Buenventura. Meet there at 10 am and bring your own lunch!!! We will have a fun day!!

7-21 Ice Skating at the Ice Sheet WSU from 12-2pm $1 fee

7-22 Camp-Out Registration. Come to the Center at 1pm to register for the camp-out and sign up for the activities. We have to have all registration papers in on August 5th so pick that paperwork up today!!!!

7-23 Ceramics 1-3 pm at the South Ogden Sr. Center, 580 39th Street.

7-24 Pioneer Day: CLOSED

7-25 Nicklecade 11-1, meet there at 4046 Riverdale Road and bring the nickles!

7-28 Movie/Game Night 5-8pm Movie: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Game: Bingo
7-30 American West Heritage Center. Cost: $2.50, (Logan) BUS. for those that drive, you can follow the bus there. We leave the Center at 9am

7-30 Gardening 12:30-1:30 pm at Center

7-31 Games in the Park and Clean-up 5-7pm, Your Choice, Basketball, croquet, Frizbee, Thumb Ball, West Sponge Toss.
