Ogden Community Meetings for Recreation Master Plan

Ogden City is seeking input from residents to guide the City’s sports programs and recreational opportunities in coming years. The City is developing a Recreation Master Plan. The intent to is create services that will benefit Ogden citizens and their families.

If you would like your voice to be heard, plan to attend one of three upcoming meetings in Ogden. Presentations will be given at each location at 6pm and again at 7pm each night.

Thursday, March 1 from 6-8pm at Mount Ogden Junior High, 3260 Harrison Blvd
Thursday, March 8 from 6-8pm at Union Station, 2501 Wall Avenue
Thursday, March 29 from 6-8pm at Ben Lomond High School, 1080 9th street.

Join Rep. Dixon Pitcher for a “Night at the Capitol”

Utah District 10 Rep. Dixon Pitcher, R-Ogden has invited constituents to join him for a meet and greet at the Utah State Capitol on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in Room 130. Rep. Pitcher will provide pizza and drinks and tours of the Capitol building.

District 10 is in South Ogden and Ogden, from the Davis County and Morgan County borders roughly between Washington Blvd and the city limits, to the east to 30th Street on the North.

Caucuses Meetings Being Held

With the legislature in session, it’s easy to focus our attention solely on the activity taking place in Salt Lake City. It’s important, and so much takes place on a daily basis that it’s hard to keep up with it all. But it is important to remember that crucial events will take place all year and throughout the state.

If the upcoming elections are important to you, it’s the perfect time to start preparing. Caucus meetings take place in two weeks. Consider trying to become a delegate for your party. As a delegate, you will have the ear of the candidates. They will seek you out and want to share their vision with you. It’s a great opportunity to ask candidates how they feel about disability issues.

The Utah Republican Party holds their caucus meetings at 7:00pm on March 15, 2012; the Utah Democratic Party holds their caucus meetings at 7:00pm on March 13, 2012.

To find out what precinct you live in and the caucus location for your precinct, contact your County government Elections Office or Clerk’s Office. You can also try your political party’s website or the Utah Elections website:

Hatch Town Hall at Weber State University

U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch will be attending a town hall meeting at Weber State University on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm in the Shepard Union Building, Sky Room, Room 404. This is a great opportunity to meet with Senator Hatch and share your views with him.

Legislative Update

The good news is there are no budget cuts being asked for this year for disability services. However, the legislative session hasn’t ended yet. Housing ~ Cathy Calara is the housing specialist for Utah Independent Living Center. – She will bring packets that contain all of the information needed to apply for housing.

There are a number of housing options for people with disabilities or those with low income. You need to sit through her very informative presentation to understand these options. There will also be a discussion about what you can do to teach independent skills to your son or daughter with a disability now to help get them ready for the future.

Attention Duchesne County Residents

Just wanted to spread the word to Duchesne County residents that if you want to vote in this years primary and regular elections, you need to call the county building and make sure they have your correct address and signature on file. They aren’t having public voting locations this year. It’s mail in only!!
