NOTICE OF SOCIAL SERVICES APPROPRIATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE – Public Testimony Opportunity DATE: Thursday, July 21, 2011 TIME: 8:00 a.m. PLACE: Utah State Developmental Center, 895 N. American Fork, Utah.

The Chairs have requested that individuals with experience receiving, applying for, or providing disability services share what is working or not working well with disability services in Utah. Public input is tentatively scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Please contact Debbie Benson before 2 p.m. Monday, July 18th at 801-538-1034 if you wish to be considered for public comment. Please indicate the perspective of disability services you’ll be discussing (for example – individual with disabilities, Medicaid, provider, etc.) as well as if you are with a particular organization and your contact information.

New Regional Organizers

Please join us in welcoming three new regional organizers. Evelyn has joined us in region 1, Elsie in region 11 and Christie in Region 10. These women are valuable additions to the statewide efforts to provide information and education, in our communities to more effectively advocate and promote a unified voice on disability policy and systems change. DSPD Stakeholders Meeting June 8th

The next DSPD Stakeholders meeting will be held Wednesday, June 8th at 3:00 pm at the Department of Human Services, 195 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City. They will be talking about budget issues and building block requests for the coming year. Requests are due to the Department and to the Governor’s office in August and September. It will be an informal budget discussion because there is no formal process without the DSPD Board.

Everyone is invited to participate.

If you have any questions or a budget issue that might need research you can contact Alan Ormsby at akormsby@utah.gov.

at the Outdoor Pool in Murray Park

5:30pm Dinner at Pavilion #4 (behind the outdoor pool, this is a different pavilion than last year)

6:15-8:15pm Swimming

We need a count for the dinner and the pool so please RSVP to events@utahspinabifida.org (hit the reply button).

This is our biggest event of the year! Bring the whole family for a night of fun. Dinner will be provided.

If there is bad weather, we will move swimming to the indoor pool across the parking area (like we did last year).

Free St. George Mini Conference

To all, We are a group of professionals who are putting together a free mini conference in St. George for families of children with disabilities. Please see the attached flyer about the classes. We’re really hoping to get as much attendance as possible to this mini-conference.. but we need your help…we would appreciate it if you could contact families and let them know about it and encourage them to go…the information presented will be valuable!   (This conference is given through a grant from Utah State University)
